Haven't tried any officers, maybe next campaign. I build one snapshotter that goes EC and tandem as well. Fire rocket -> Heat -> FitH (snapshot) -> Shredder -> Mayhem -> EC/S&A -> Javelin (tandem) I'm not even sure if my 1 snapshot rocketeer has actually ever had to move and fire. That said I've never really missed snapshot. Its really only when my rocketeer isn't in position to fire rockets and is thus holding onto them that I've had a really tough time. Typically I find that if my rocketeer has fired all their rockets, the mission has gone very well. I don't take any gun shooty perks but they're more competent than my engineers, and after shooting rockets they can get flanks pretty easy with the smg. Later in the game I psi about half of them, where they become useful ghost grenade carriers. An accurate fire rocket does nasty damage to any single target however. DR + damage falloff due to scatter often makes early rockets do less than 4 damage to mutons that aren't in the center of the blast (its more important to just blow their cover). I'm generally not thrilled with the performance of fire rocket vs in-cover enemies. Their secondary job is cover destruction. The shredder rocket also turns floaters and chryssalids into 1 hit kills. They level up quickly on a delicious diet of entire pods of drones and seekers through April and May. Their primary job is chucking heat shredders at things. Rocketeers with above average will at SGT-TSGT are eligible for psi training and will take Extra Conditioning.Įvery rocketeer takes heat warheads and shredder ammo. As support troops, I value positive defense stat on rocketeers. If I'm making a snapshot rocketeer (i usually don't), they must have 13-14 mob. I care more about specific stats on other classes, so what's left become rocketeers. 12-13 mobility, and hopefully midling stats in other areas. Alloy jacketed rounds and flak ammo can be used when available. I consider scopes fairly optional once they've taken FitH at corporal, but if I don't need anything else they can get a scope or an alloy plate. Psi rocketeers are prime candidates for carrying the ghost grenade. Besides extra rockets, my rocketeers often bring an extra medkit. Preferably SMG, but occasionally carbine. No psi yet as I'm not sure if I will chop them for archers (never used them but heard there good) and genemods there's nothing there that I think is particularly useful for their primary role.Ĭlassic. I like EC + corsair as it gives them enough armour to take a hit without ending up in the medbay. At the moment they are in corsair armour. But from gsgt on their aim is usually fine without a scope/steadied. Before they get EC I usually give them a scope and one extra rocket. Will usually make one with Shock n Awe and Javelin aswell to bring a long for 10 man missions.Īt msgt they get a carbine and a load of rockets. Taking out swarms of seekers/drones or anything else that groups up. Rocketeers for me are all about the rockets. Take rookies with high aim and if possible decent movement but thats about it.
